SpectraChem Analytical joins CRL Energy

5 May 2008

In January 2008, CRL Energy Ltd announced that SpectraChem Analytical Ltd has become part of its analytical services. The SpectraChem company specialises in X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis of a wide range of inorganic and organic materials such as rocks and soils, plant and animal tissue, metal alloys, industrial wastes, oils, foodstuffs, plastics and polymers.

Their clients include mining and geological exploration companies, environmental consultants, oil and manufacturing industries, and research organisations. They are also the only IANZ accredited independent XRF specialists in Australasia.

Chief Executive Officer of CRL Energy, Dr Rob Whitney, says the fit with CRL Energy’s core analytical business is perfect.

“SpectraChem’s range of analytical techniques and services complements our own precisely. With SpectraChem joining our analytical division we can now offer a more comprehensive service from a qualified team of analysts.”

CRL Energy already runs a specialised analysis business for the energy, minerals and fuels industries, and the environmental sector. With the addition of SpectraChem’s equipment and expertise, the range of services for this sector has expanded and CRL Energy will also be shifting into new analytical areas for the manufacturing and food industries, and for other research organisations.

Lee Searle, one of the founders of SpectraChem, will continue to manage the SpectraChem business for CRL Energy, and the other founder, John Hunt, will work for CRL Energy in an exclusive associate consultant capacity.

In addition to its analysis business, CRL Energy has research contracts involving new energy technologies such as hydrogen and biomass conversion, testing, consulting, and emissions monitoring. They also have a geology team providing a wide range of high quality geological and environmental services to the mining and mineral exploration industry.

CRL Energy’s SpectraChem Analytical is a member of the New Zealand Association of Consulting Laboratories, and an approved MAF Transitional Facility for the importation and handling of foreign soil and plant materials.

SpectraChem’s staff and equipment, including the SpectraChem XRFs have been relocated to the CRL Energy laboratory complex at 68 Gracefield Road, Seaview Lower Hutt.
