Washability
Coal Preparation is the processing of coal to improve the quality for the end user.
CRL Energy provides a comprehensive range of testing:
- Float/sink analysis (AS 4156.1-1994).
- Drop shatter (ASTM D440)
- Drum tumble (AS 4156.1-1994).
- Froth flotation (AS 4156.2-1998).
- Wheelstand testing – used to simulate coal being sluiced through a pipeline.
The Gracefield Laboratory is equipped to conduct float/sink work on a range of samples. Fine samples (<0.5mm) are conducted in glass separating funnels. Coal up to 50mm topsize is conducted in a series of 15 litre buckets. The normal range of density solutions is 1.3 to 1.6; however, lighter and heavier solutions are available.
